'Etosha Tuskers'

Bull Elephants after watering at Etosha Pan, Namibia

An Acrylic on Canvas by Gordon Howard

The Dreams of Pangea

I observed these Bull Elephants, as they approached us after watering and a mud bath at a seepage on the edge of Etosha Pan in northern Namibia. Their wrinkled skins were glistening in the strong afternoon sunlight. The pale green mud in Etosha Pan is laden with mica, which reflects light much like a mirror. In the strong afternoon sunlight, these two peaceful jumbos looked ready for a pop concert.
